At Ouellet Associates the construction gene runs in the family. Mike Ouellet, company founder and president, learned the business from his father, Albert. Like his father before him, Albert Ouellet was a mason by trade. He founded Ouellet Construction in Madawaska, in 1959.

Mike Ouellet began shadowing his father on job sites before he was old enough to work. And he was working at every opportunity by the age of 13. He gained hands-on experience in multiple trades and was a project manager by the time he reached his twenties, taking time out to earn an Associates Degree in Engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology.

Working in the County, the Ouellets perfected the art of efficiency. They learned how to plan around weekly deliveries to remote job sites as well as how to work under the most inhospitable conditions. In the 1980s, Ouellet Construction expanded downstate, with Mike spearheading the “southern branch.”

In 1992 Mike started Ouellet Associates, based in Brunswick. He maintained an active relationship with Ouellet Construction, often teaming up on large scope projects. When Albert Ouellet retired, in 1995, Mike bought the company’s assets, absorbing many of its key staff and adding a level of organizational technology that sets the company apart in the industry.

Today Mike is joined by brothers Don and Dean, but every member of the Ouellet team is extended family. And the family business ethos of honesty and integrity remain the company’s hallmark.
